Building a reliable foundation for better decision making, improving data quality and transforming reporting for higher education. And today I'm joined with Logan Anderson and he is going to go through the presentation today.
So with that, I'm gonna hand it over to Logan to get us started. And just a few quick notes before we dive in. We will be taking Q and A throughout. So where you can find it is at the lower bottom of your Zoom screen.
You should find the Q and A feature. And we'll be doing a live demo. And then after the demo, we'll be able to answer questions. And if we don't get to yours, don't worry. We'll get back to you via email afterwards.
And we're planning on keeping this around 30 minutes. So with that, now I'll hand it over to Logan. Thanks, Stephanie. Thanks everyone for joining today. Again, my name is Logan Anderson. I'm a senior solution consultant here at OneStream Software.
I've been with the company about four years now, and I've got about 17 years of higher education, financial planning, reporting, analytics experience, including eight years at the University of Notre Dame in the central budget office, and then five years of consulting before I joined OneStream.
We're looking forward to the demonstration today. So why are we here? Well, what we're hearing from users across our community, whether it's a prospect or a client, is that institutions for higher education need to make continual investments in technology, specifically around providing users with access to good quality data for reporting.
So some of the statistics we see here, right? By 20, 67% of finance professionals feel like by 2035, AI and automation will have completely reshaped organizations, right? Financial functions, which, you know, it feels like it's coming even faster than that.
72% of finance users feel like they need unified data and they need to be making data-driven decisions. And still another 90% of college officials, right, cited the need for better practices around, you know, gathering data for their business and finance functions.
So that's sort of what we're seeing across the industry. When I engage with, you know, institutions of higher education, what we're seeing is what we think of as fragmented finance. And it's kind of represented by this slide here, what we call the spaghetti chart, right? What we've seen is historically institutions come to the market for a specific solution.
So they might come in and say, hey, we need a solution for long-range planning. And they'll go out and they'll select a solution. They'll integrate it. They'll, you know, with their data sources and then they'll go live.
Then they might say, hey, we need something for capital planning and they'll buy another solution. And then we need a reporting solution, right? And then something different for budgeting and planning and something for account recs.
And what happens is the sprawl of what we think of as spot solutions, right? Where, you know, maybe individually, these perform the function that they need for the user. But what you really need is you need all these things to work together because you want to be able to leverage your long-range plan and compare it against your budget and your actual data, right? And if you want to report on your budgeting data, you don't want to have to export that data to another system to do reporting, right? The vision of OneStream is that we can connect with these multiple source systems and allow you, right, to get rid of this fragmented finance.
And what this causes is, right, it's a lot of complexity. It's high cost. So we call this technical debt to maintain all these different software solutions. They have typically lack of scalability right across them.
And ultimately, it's an expensive use case, whether that's, you know, your money, your time, your human resources going into maintaining all these solutions. So what makes OneStream different? Well, what makes OneStream different is that it's a full platform that can support all these use cases in a single place, right, a single unified platform.
We start with this kind of bottom layer here, right, which is kind of the key, which is the data management, right, where the integrated data management is going to allow us to connect to multiple source systems within your higher education environment, whether that's your general ledger or finance data, your HR data, or your student data, right? We can connect with all those data sources and bring them into a single place.
Once we have those connected, we're going to perform data quality management to make sure that data is validated and confirmed and certified. And then what we can use that for is all these different processes.
So things around the financial close, right, you can do monthly close, your account recs, but then also around planning, right? We can do long-range planning, position planning, your annual budget, in-year forecasting, et cetera.
So that's going to leverage our embedded workflow and financial intelligence, right, to help support all these different processes. And once you've completed, right, your close, your long-range plan, your budgeting, we're then going to also allow you to do your reporting, right, and analytics right here in the platform.
So whether that's building out an AFR or a budget book or creating your finance, you know, your financial executive board decks, right, we can do all that here in a single unified platform. So what we commonly see here for higher education around data is these data silos, right? People typically guard their data so that it's often difficult for users across the institution to get timely access to that data.
It's often difficult to integrate the diverse data sources because they might not have a common metadata structure, right, that makes it easy to drop into Excel and then combine the data sets. There's also typically really no data integrity or quality checks.
So if you've got users who don't have the institutional knowledge grabbing the data, they might be putting it in a format or a report that might not be correct. This also leads to a lot of a lack of standardization across the institution for how reporting is delivered to leadership.
So leaders can bring the same, what they think is the same numbers and reporting to a meeting and they might be, have completely different numbers, right? So that data accessibility and usability, often it's sort of these data dumps that are happening within legacy systems that, right, don't make it user-friendly for users to have access to the data.
And then oftentimes there's latency here. So there's a lack of real-time access to their underlying data. So OneStream we're hoping to, right, we want to be able to really know that. So OneStream really provides flexible reporting with dashboards and analytics all in one place.
So that's what we're going to be focused on today is really the reporting and data integration piece. I'll be walking through some analytical capabilities, some self-service reporting, ad hoc analysis, and then showing how we can also produce your AFR and your budget book and then also leadership decks, et cetera.
So I'm going to actually jump into the software now. So this here is OneStream, right? And you might think of this as a homepage that you'd have as part of an implementation. One of the nice things about OneStream is that we can really tailor the user experience here so that, you know, if it's a reporting-only user and they just need access to their budget versus actual reports, we can take them directly there when they log in, right? So not everyone has to have the same experience.
I mentioned all the capabilities we have here. So, you know, I'll go through most of these reporting features here in the demonstration today. But in OneStream, we can also support, right, detailed allocations.
So if you're an RCM school and you want to perform your allocations in the software, that can be handled. Capital planning, student enrollment planning, room and board, long-range strategic planning, all can happen here in OneStream.
For the budget office, right, typically you're kicking off your budget process by seeding the budget, building out those drivers. And then once campus is done with those budgets, you're going to go through and review and approve them, make adjustments so we can post journals, whether that's part of your eliminations for your close or doing adjustments to that budget.
As a budget planner, right, I've got the ability to do things like position planning, non-labor budgeting, detailed planning. That could, this could be, we have a travel use case built into the demonstration here, but this could be around, right, your real estate portfolio and your rent.
It could be around, right, your auxiliary operations. Tuition planning, right, we can support that here in OneStream. Tracking commitments across the institution. Then I also mentioned the financial close.
So the idea here is that all these processes and more can be done here within that single unified platform. Also workflow, right, is embedded here right in the platform. So, well, it's nice that workflow here, it can vary by organization, by scenario, and also over time.
So not every organization within, you know, the institution has to have the same workflow. They could have different approvals, et cetera, and reviews. Not every process, so your budget versus your close versus the forecast versus long range planning.
It can all have different workflows. And then also your workflows might change over time, right? And OneStream can flex right alongside, right alongside you. You also notice here, I've got some KPI that I'm presenting to my user.
So these can be sensitive to the role or user based on their user security. And then I can go ahead and I can drill into these. So if I look at this calculation, this expense per FTE, right, what I'm doing is I'm bringing together two data sets.
So my finance and my HR data, I'm tracking this both over time and then across scenarios. So I've got actual, got my prior year, I'm comparing that. I might have a budget, a forecast, right? So I can easily compare that.
One of the unique capabilities we have here in OneStream is this ability to drill. So if I right-click on this 34,000 and I drill down, it's taking us to our native drill screen. So here at the top, right, I've got sort of my drill history.
And then as I drill in, you'll see the results down here at the bottom. Across the top, we see all the data elements or fields associated with this data set. Ultimately, if you go through an implementation of OneStream, all these columns and the names would match yours.
But you'll notice here, one of my fields is green, indicating to me that, hey, there's more data behind the data here. So I can go ahead and I can double-click, drill in. So here I've drilled into the expense per FTE.
And I'm actually, it's going to show me that calculation. So expense per FTE is total OPEX divided by headcount. I see those two accounts here. So I see total OPEX, I see the FTE. I also see the amounts.
So I can easily see that this 34,451 is derived by taking 50,264 to buy a BIPL-159. And if I wanted to, I can drill further into the data here. So it's giving me that breadcrumb trail and giving me easy access to that underlying data.
So the first thing I'm going to do, I'm going to start off here with just some of the analytical capabilities we have here within OneStream. So this is going to be an executive dashboard that we can present to users.
And you'd be able to configure these right in any way that you want. So don't worry if you're looking at these dashboards or reports and saying, you know, this isn't exactly how we want to see it. These are just different use cases we've built out as part of our demonstration.
So here I've got a high-level statement of activities, right? I can see kind of the high-level account categories, my budget versus actual. The variance analysis, again, OneStream has financial intelligence built right in the platform.
So inherently, OneStream just knows the difference between a revenue and expense and then how they do the variance calculation. You don't have to train OneStream on how to do that. It's inherent to the platform.
As you'd expect, all these dashboards are dynamic so that, right, we can easily toggle between different ones and use different components to filter others. I also like this crosswalk feature here. So you'll notice I've got the budget and net result here.
And then it's walking forward to where we ended up for actuals. So you can see here, we actually missed our target, which is represented up here in the graphics. So we're supporting this within context analytics.
And I can see what's driving some of our variances here. The other thing is I can drill into this and I can actually see some of the commentary, right? So I can look at this by my colleges and divisions and then see what's driving my results.
So in this case, right, we're looking at tuition and fees and the budget result and then the variance between actuals. And here I can actually take action. So I can make comments here in one stream. And in one stream, we treat the comments here as first class citizens.
So that means that these comments are stored in one stream right alongside the data, which means we can report on it across the platform. It doesn't live just within this intersection. The other thing I'll point out is that we can aggregate comments.
So you'll notice here, we're aggregating the comments to the top level. So I could say, hey, reporting document on it. And what you'll see here is when I say, this is added right to this comment here in total.
So I can see this has made college business comments and then college science. So we can aggregate comments and allow you to make comments at kind of any level within your hierarchy. It's a really nice feature here as well.
I also want to be able to show the ability to drill down. So let's say I'm curious about these actual numbers and I want to drill into this 299 million, right? So I showed you this before, right? I've got this ability that I can drill into my operating expenses.
I could drill down, right? All my departments. So I'll look down at the bottom here. I can look at the base level, right? So I can drill down and I can see and gain great insights into my data. We can even drill back, all the way back to the source system, which we'll talk about here.
In a little bit. But I can also do some ad hoc analysis. So one thing I can do, let's look at the total revenues. There's 409 million right here. If I right click on this, I can build out what we call a quick view.
I could drop this into either Excel. So I'll show Excel integration here in a little bit or our native spreadsheet that's built right in the platform. But take that 409 million and it's going to drop it right here into the spreadsheet tool here.
And then I can drill in. So I can drill on operating revenues. I see the next level down. It's drilling down my hierarchy here. You'll also notice, right? So I've got the one stream ribbon here. I can still drill on this detail here so I can refresh the data.
I can drill down so I can drill down on the data that we're dynamically building out here and leveraging. I can also now, right? You'll see over here on the far right-hand side, just like you'd expect and like a pivot table, we've got this same kind of functionality.
So here, if I want to, I can look at our org hierarchy and I might want to drill on a different level of the org hierarchy, right? So I can do that here as well. Or I can take this and maybe I want to drag and drop this.
I'll drag and drop my fund into the columns, right? And then I'll go down to the bottom level. And now I can see how our funding sources are spread out across the fund. So I can look at the accounts and the funds here.
So again, this ability to do quick and easy ad hoc analysis is also very powerful for you and your users. Remember, we can bring in all types of data. We can do trending. So, right, we can bring in historical data to allow you to do trend analysis.
Here in this, we're showing both trend analysis and then the ability to bring together multiple scenarios. So I've got a high level statement activities here on the left-hand side. And then across the top, you'll see I've got two years historical actual.
I've got my budget for the next year. And then I've got my forecast, right? So I've got a five-year forecast. So this is bringing together five or three different scenarios, right? My actuals, my budget, my forecast.
And as you know, right, often institutions are going to be doing these at different levels. So your actuals are going to come in at that base level. And then we can aggregate them up into a view like you're seeing here in the blue columns.
You might budget at that level or you might choose to budget, you know, at a kind of an intermediate level. And then you might forecast at the very highest level for the total university. OneStream is going to allow you to plan at whatever level you need to based on, right, what's important to your institution and even what's important to your departments within the institution.
So in OneStream, we call this ability to plan at different levels. We call it extensible dimensionality. It's a fancy term, but that's basically what it means. And we can allow, for example, a school of medicine to plan at one level, but maybe the rest of the university doesn't want to plan.
They want to plan at a more rolled up level. So you can allow that here in OneStream. We can also bring in different data sets for tuition enrollment, development data for fundraising, right? Sponsored research is obviously a hot topic right now so we can get insights into our funding sources here and our PIs and the balances that they have here across the institution.
So I do want to, you know, I've shown quite a bit here in terms of analytics and different data sets. So I do want to touch real quick on data integration. I don't have time today to actually show data integration.
I'd love if you want to see more, we can spend some time. But I'm going to come back to my PowerPoint deck and just talk about it in context. We think of this as data quality management. OneStream, right? We're going to automate these processes wherever we can so that, right, you can have access to your data overnight, right? You can schedule these to run once an hour, nightly, weekly, whatever you want.
So these will be automated. But what we're going to do is we want to first, you know, we're going to break this down by the value, the task, and then the actors, right? So the first step here is we've got to connect to the data.
And, you know, this adds quite a bit of value, but basically what we're doing is reading that source data. And the actors here are IT and finance. But OneStream is really designed and architected to be managed by finance.
So the rest of this process, as you can see, is really set up to manage by the finance team. The next step, once we've got that connection to the source system, is we're going to import it. So we're going to parse that source data, right? And make sure it's ready for transformation or mapping, right? So our mapping rules is what allows us to bring together different data sets or different ledgers and map them into a common framework.
So we're going to transparent, we're going to transparently enrich and convert that data for reporting purposes. And you're going to have that full audit trail for how that data was mapped and transformed.
Once that happens, we're going to validate the data. So we're going to make sure that all the data is recognized and it has a place within one stream for the underlying reporting to make sure it's complete.
Then we'll load it, right? We'll write it to the models that it's available for reporting. And ultimately, we're going to confirm the data. So we can run and finance integrity checks like, hey, does the balance sheet balance? We can look for business logic here to make sure that before you push the data out to your users for reporting, right, that it's available.
So this is kind of at a high level representing, right, I've got the data source. We bring the data in, we validate it, we transform it, and then we push it into reports and confirm that it's correct.
But once it's in the reports, what you've seen me do so far is we can actually drill down. So I can drill from the report back into this data in stage. And then when we have a direct connection to a source system, we can actually allow you to go back further and draw all the way back now to that underlying data source and service additional information.
So I'll show you what I'm talking about with this next use case. So in this case, I've got, I want to take a look at airfare. So we might be bringing data in from, right, a travel system, for example.
What we want to do is we're just doing kind of a high level analysis for our airfare. So budget versus actuals here. So I've got this organized by department and then by fund. And you can see here, right, I've got sort of these high level balances.
And when I look at this variance, I see most of it's being driven by this 8,659 in the faculty discretionary account. You'll also notice like if I click on the 2471 here, over on the right hand side, I'm servicing that detailed data from stage.
So I can drill down and see this data or I can service it right here within a dashboard because it's meaningful to the user. I see it ties out. I can see the detail. I can see the airline that they flew, the origin destination and the underlying invoice number.
I've also got some analytics here. But now if I click on the 8979, right, I can see, all right, this row here is a large figure and it looks like it's a private carrier. So what I've done so far is I'm looking at the report right at a high level, servicing to the end user that transactional detail.
But with OneStream, again, we've got that drill back functionality where now what I can do is I can drill back to that underlying travel voucher in this use case and service it for the end user. And here I see, all right, so this is Kevin Gray and here's the amount.
So that confirms the amount and it's private net jets. All right, so that seems unusual. And now I want to take action on this. So I want to go ahead and again, I want to make a comment. So I'm going to come in now and make a comment that I can then use in a report to send off to the appropriate users.
Hey, this is Kevin Gray, Brian White, question mark. I can save that and I can take this, turn it into a nicely formatted report here, export it in any format that I might want, PDF, Excel, right, or send it off, right, email it to anyone that I might want.
So really quick and easy. I've got that ability to take action, to review the data at the different levels and take action on it as well. We can also leverage some of the mapping features in the underlying position data to look at, right, our resource allocation, right, across our different areas.
So if you want to look at the College of Science here, here I can see the number of positions, 811, I've got 50 vacant. If I want to filter on those vacant positions, I've got quick and easy access to that here as well.
All right, so the next thing I want to show is a solution we call Guided Reporting. And what Guided Reporting is, is it offers us a way to give some self-service capabilities to your users across campus, right? So Guided Reporting, we leverage this idea of what we call a row set, which dictates what I see kind of here in the rows.
And then also I have a column set which dictates what I see across the top here, right? So in this case, I'm looking at my funds availability and here we built out a report where I'm seeing my fund here across the different departments that roll up to the president.
So here's the ENG fund, here's the auxiliary fund and the underlying units. So I've got services from a board of athletics and then our state appropriation funds and then a total, right? So this is going to, you can configure these reports to be in any way that you'd like.
I also am presenting them year-to-date budget, current month actual, along with the year-to-date actual, year-to-date obligated or some folks call this encumbrance to give us the sort of actual year-to-date and what we've obligated so we can calculate what's available in the budget and the percentage, right? So this is a nice kind of easy report where you can give access to your users to their funds, view budget versus actuals, do analysis.
We can look at this in a number of ways. Again, I can email this out, I can send it to anyone I might want. Also, I'll point out in one stream we can do report bursting, which allows us to send reports on a scheduled basis to a user or a group of users.
That's a really nice feature. We can look at this in a number of views. So here, this is the same report, but now I've got the underlying view that is drillable. So here, maybe I'm interested and I want to look at what's going on in facilities here.
So what I can do is I could drill down like I did before or I can navigate quickly to another dashboard that's tied to this data set. So now here's the same numbers down here at the bottom, but now I'm enriching it by providing the account detail that's driving the variance and I've got the same columns across the top here.
So I'm allowing the user to drill in and view a different report, but I have access to the same underlying data. So we're doing that dynamically. So a really nice feature here as well. If I want to, I can look at a kind of a quick budget versus actual report.
This budget versus actual report, I can also drill in to show additional details. I can look and I can view the variances here. Maybe I also want to allow for some comments so I can change the column set here, which will update the comment.
I can add in the commentary here. You'll also notice I've got filters, the user's going to have filters across the top. So I can look at my different funds here. I can drill in and I can look at different levels of the hierarchy here that I might want to review.
So I can run this report for a different level of hierarchy. I can run it for a different time set, right, month or year and date. So you determine what kind of filters you'd like up here. But this again gives the user, it's not just a stale stagnant report.
They can make updates here and change different variables so that they get the view of the data that they're interested in. But let's say I go in and I want to look at, I'll look at the College of Business.
So I come in here, the College of Business, the net tuition and fees here is a little bit over budget, over under budget. They're missing the budget here a little bit. So I can say, hey, I'm going to my MBA enrollment down.
So I make that comment here. So I made this comment as the College of Business. But now, maybe you've got a process here around gathering your variance analysis across campus. So what you want to be able to do then is see this, you know, as a central maybe budget office, see all those comments across campus.
So I created a different view here, variance roll-up report. So here, I see there's my net tuition and fees. Here's my total department, so total numbers. And then I see the comments by each college or division.
So here's that comment I made MBA enrollment down. I can see science has made a comment and central has said international enrollment is higher than expected. And then I can make a summary level comment, right? So here, I can make comments here at the parent level and so many other solutions that are out there on the market.
If you're going to allow users to make comments, you have to compromise and say which level you want to make those comments at. Here, and one server can make comments at any level of their own leadership.
This allows you to tell stories to leadership at the right level, but they could drill in and see the additional detail here that supports it. All right, so really powerful to have this kind of detail here.
All right, I can also dig a little bit into a little bit more into compensation detail as an example. So here, what I've got is I can look and I can see. Notice this is another example of extensible dimensionality.
I've got my detailed faculty accounts here and then my summary faculty salary and you'll notice the actuals come at the lowest level and then aggregate up. But here, what we're doing is we're budgeting at the parent level.
So this is this ability to budget at a different level than the actuals are coming in. We can still perform the analysis. Now, as I mentioned, that might be fine for a lot of the colleges, but maybe the School of Medicine, for example, they do want to budget at the individual top level.
And in one stream, we can allow them to do that. So if I filter on their budget, we see, hey, they are budgeting at that detailed account level. And now they can do the analysis at the level that's meaningful to them.
Right? And that's one of those powerful things we have here within one stream. Also show, this is an often requested report where we've got both displaying the natural expense account classification and then also the functional one here as well.
So I can look at this across the total university and I can see how that data is divided up here across both the natural class and the functional class. Right? So that was guided reporting. The next thing I want to do is show some of the capabilities around our Microsoft Office integration.
So with one stream, we've got very tight integration with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, which is going to give you a lot of flexibility for providing your users with access to their various reports.
So here I'll point out, right, I've got this grid of data. Now in one stream, I create this grid of data here one time and then I can choose different mediums to display it in. So I can embed it in a dashboard like I had here.
I could put it in guided reporting like you just saw. I could embed it in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word. Right? And then, but I don't have to recreate it each time, right, I want to display it in a different medium.
So here, if I open up the underlying view here in Excel, this is going to open up Excel for me. And right now I'm going to see that data here, but it's not just kind of doing a data dump, right? Some solutions will say, hey, yeah, we've got my Excel integration and they'll show you, they'll just dump the data here in Excel and say, there it is.
Well, from our perspective, that isn't good enough. If you want true Excel integration, you need the ability to have access to that data here within Excel. So here, you can see I've got my one string tab.
I can refresh the underlying data here, right? If there are any filters or anything that I want to have on this, I can filter the data. But I am now in Microsoft Excel, but I still have the same ability here to drill down.
I want to drill my budget number here. I can drill down the accounts, right? I can see I'm planning at different levels. I'm planning grants and gifts at a high level, but net tuition and fees at a more detailed level.
But I can also do that ad hoc analysis I showed you earlier. So now if I want to, I can create what we call the quick view. So I'm going to take this $299 million, drop it down, and now I can drill in right into my underlying salary and benefits detail.
And again, I can also display this. Maybe I want to see it across function in the column or programs, right? I want to see this across institution, research, public service, right? So I can see now this broken out across these various classifications.
You can also enter data if the user is allowed and you enable them to. So people can make comments here in Excel and it's going to write back to one screen. So that was the Excel integration there. The next thing I wanted to show is the PowerPoint and Word integration.
So here, if I go to my financial reporting, we can allow, provide you with an interface. So here, I can see, again, I've got a high-level statement activities here. And what we want to do this time is we want to create a PowerPoint deck for the board.
So we can provide, embed this exhibit and allow people to make comments. Those comments are going to update there. We can also provide an interface here to make these high-level comments to embed in the PowerPoint presentation.
We could have this process running across different time periods. So we could have different versions for each month. We can do this quarterly or twice a year, whatever would be your choice there. And then we could run this for different kind of departments.
So you can do this for each department. But what OneStream is going to do is it's going to embed this detail here in PowerPoint. And as you make changes to the underlying data, and as someone makes an update to a comment, for example, it's going to update PowerPoint and Word in real time.
So you're no longer going through and someone's going through and updating and copying and pasting the reports comments into PowerPoint and Word. This is happening now in real time. So all these comments, all the data here, these aren't snapshots still getting updated from OneStream here in real time.
So we can do that with both PowerPoint and Word. And as I mentioned before, we can have this comment audit. So I can see here, I can see, hey, here's the comment I made recently. I can see which ones I made.
I can filter these by time, by the user that made them, by the department, etc. So you've got the ability to have access to these comments as well. Here we can get a preview of the underlying package that we're sending off.
The other feature we've got here, and this will be applicable to both creating your AFR and your budget book, is we've got an area of reporting. So this is going to enable us, you can have multiple reports here, so in my use case I just have a budget book.
And we can break that budget book into different sections. So you could have a lot of different sections here, this is a fairly simple one here, where I've got my cover page and executive summary, and I'm looking to do a financial analysis for revenue and expense, saving that position here as well.
And then I can track where we're at, so I can assign different users to these sections and then put them through an approval workflow. So I'll show you what we mean here. If I want to look at, for example, the revenue detail, again, I can embed this report right here within the interface, and format any way you want.
And here now I've got the check-in, check-out capability, right? So I can check this in, check this out, make my changes and track who made those changes. And you can do this in both Microsoft Word or you can leverage the embedded word processor here right within OneStream.
You've got all those capabilities you want around formatting, inserting headers and footers, the page layouts, right? Also track changes is enabled here so you can track any changes. So you can look at both the reports.
And then also you can embed write text. So you can update text right here within the interface. So I can say, hey, the total funds budget is comprised of the following. I can update this blah, blah, blah.
So I can make the change. And then all the numbers and the graphics are going to be updated here from OneStream. So here I can take this underlying code here and I can look and if I updated my revenue budget, it would update the actual number here.
We also see here we can see the underlying activity for this document. So I can see who's last made a change. We have version control here so I can restore a previous version or export that out and then compare it in Word.
I can compare changes between the two different versions in Word. And then we can also see the underlying artifacts here. So if I scroll back up to this report, right, this is just a format report we've embedded here.
But the underlying artifact here I still have access to. So I can update this. Again, it's the same underlying data. But again, if I want to now drill in, right, I can see exactly where this came from.
So I can drill in and see that underlying detail here within OneStream. So great use case. This is being used, this kind of feature is being used by current clients. One that's publicly available right now is within our federal practice.
Department of Homeland Security has used OneStream for the past four or five years to create their 4,000 page congressional budget justification. So you can go out to their website, just search DHS congressional budget justification.
Here's all the documents that have been produced using OneStream. We want to look at the Coast Guard as an example, right? This entire, the headers here, the titles, the exhibit, the narrative, all built out here in OneStream.
And you can imagine this across 4,000 pages. Someone historically, if they're working on the 23 president's budget, they're tracking the positions, FTE, and the amounts. If someone updates this 19 to 20, it updates these numbers here.
And someone historically had to download that from the system, get it in the right format, copy and paste it in here. But on top of that, you'll notice the numbers that are referenced in the exhibit here are also referenced right here in the narrative.
So someone would also have to make sure that these numbers tie out. In OneStream, when you make that change, it's going to update the numbers here in the exhibit and in the narrative in real time, right? So that's going to be tremendous value, right, by having this all in one place.
And that's really the vision of OneStream, right? It's a single, unified platform that allows you to, right, have access to your data, report, build your budgets, and then also have those in context analytics all here within a single platform.
So that's all I have for today. Stephanie, do we have any questions from the audience? Yeah, thanks so much, Logan. And in lieu of time, we'll go through a few quick questions. What source systems typically integrate with OneStream? Yeah, I mean, we are source system agnostic, so, right, I mean, if we can have access to the data, we can integrate with it, so whether that's Workday or SAP or PeopleSoft or Ellucian, Banner, Colleague, whatever it might be, we can connect with any of those source systems.
Our CEO recently told a really good story about our first client, Federal Mogul. They had the requirement that we be able to connect with 100 different source systems. So if you think about that, that was our first client.
And so from our inception, this ability to connect with multiple source systems has been kind of at the root of the technology. Yeah, great. All right, for the next question that we have that came in, can you talk a little bit more about how security works in OneStream? Yeah, so, I mean, security, we can get really granular with that, but ultimately, right, we've got really robust role-based security.
So, you know, you provide users to access to different workflows, right, which gives them access to the process and the notifications and that automation that comes along with that. Then also, you secure individual reports and forms that they might have access to and then the data itself.
So we can do, right, slice-level data. So if your user has access to a subset of funds and departments, they would only see that. And I'll often get the question, well, maybe they have access to sort of the budget versus actual report, but they don't want to be able to drill in and see, for example, person-level detail.
You can also secure that. So you can get really granular with the security. All right. It looks like we're running over time. So with that, I think if we didn't get to your email, if your question today, we'll make sure to follow up and email it to you.
