How Cor Partners moved from version-controlled Excel files to one real-time source of truth
About this video
Cor Partners, a parent company serving multiple strategic businesses in the insurance sector, had outgrown Excel-based consolidations across its divisions. The familiar pain of version confusion, with FP&A directors asking whether teams were on v2 or v3 of a file, was slowing decisions and undermining confidence in the numbers across the organization.
OneStream replaced that fragmented process with a single platform for consolidations, forecasting, budgeting, people planning, and account reconciliations. Multiple ERP integrations were preserved without requiring divisional systems to change, and cube views have become the team's favorite tool for drilling into data, building variance analysis on the fly, and answering business questions faster than ever before.

Key takeaways
- Excel-based consolidations across multiple divisions created version confusion that slowed decisions and eroded data trust. The shift from v2 versus v3 file debates to a single refresh that gives everyone the same numbers simultaneously was immediately transformative for Core Partners.
- Multiple ERP systems were preserved without change, with OneStream adapting the integration to each one. Core Partners did not have to restructure divisional systems to implement OneStream, making the transition significantly less disruptive than a typical platform consolidation.
- One platform now supports consolidations, forecasting, budgeting, people planning, and account reconciliations. Bringing all of these functions under one roof eliminated the fragmentation that previously made cross-divisional reporting so time-consuming and inconsistent.
- Cube views are Core Partners' favorite OneStream capability for drilling into data and answering business questions fast. Building a variance analysis from a single cell and drilling to the bottom level to find a disconnect has been, in Michael Malone's words, a game changer in time savings.
- OneStream's endless possibilities give Core Partners a platform with significant room to grow into. With people planning and account reconciliations already adopted alongside core Finance workflows, the team sees a long runway of capability still ahead of them.

My name is Michael Malone and I am the Financial Systems Senior Manager at Core Partners. Core Partners serves as the parent company to several strategic businesses that service the insurance and the insurance management management management.
Prior to OneStream, Core Partners was using Excel for all of their consolidations. We have multiple distinct divisions and we just reached a point where we were outgrowing our current Excel process, the basic Excel process, and needed to find a way to find a better tool that allowed us to simplify our processes but still allow us to get more in-depth the data that we were collecting.
The main benefit from OneStream is the single platform, the ability to have all the data coming from one source. We have multiple divisions and so as they are updating their data, it used to be for our director of FP&A, he would have to say, hey, I'm looking at these numbers and we need to change this and they're seeing different numbers.
They're like, oh, are you on v2 of the file? We're on v3 of the file. And so OneStream gives you the capability to simply refresh and everyone's pulling the same data from the same source and it allows you to streamline that communication process and make sure that everyone's on the same page with what data you're looking at.
For data integrations, we do have multiple ERPs and that's what we love about OneStream. We didn't have to change that and we were able to adapt the integration to each different ERP system and so we were able to take in that data the way that they had it currently and then just make a transformation to get our core structure.
The functionality that CorePartners is currently using for our actuals, we collect all of our data for consolidations, we use them for forecasting and our budgeting and we've also used multiple solutions of theirs like people planning and account recs.
Personally, my favorite thing about OneStream is the quick views. I absolutely love quick views. The ability to drill into data to kind of solve whatever puzzle is being asked of us. I can start from our QV report and build a quick view off of that, that single cell, like this is the question we have.
Let me build a quick view and now dig in and say, okay, let's build a variance analysis out with just this one piece of data, drill in, go to that bottom level and see where that disconnect is or answer the question.
You can do it much more quickly than in the past where you had a hard coded cell. It's been a game changer in terms of time save. There's a lot we have to look forward to. There's endless possibilities with OneStream.
