How EP Group unified reporting across 100 companies and left Excel behind for good

About this video

EP Group, a private equity multi-industry corporation with complex regulatory and reporting obligations, was managing consolidation across approximately 100 companies through Excel. Each entity had its own spreadsheet structure, its own level of detail, and sometimes its own data definitions, making comprehensive, reliable reporting nearly impossible and extraordinarily time-consuming.

OneStream unified reporting across all major subsidiaries, standardizing the level of detail every entity reports and delivering data quality and speed that Excel simply cannot match. Building an internal team capable of owning and maintaining the platform has been a point of pride for the organization. For EP Group, the transition was not just an improvement. It was, in their own words, a life-changer.

Key takeaways

  1. Managing consolidation across 100 companies in Excel with inconsistent structures and data definitions wasnearly impossible. Producing a comprehensive, reliable report that leadership could trust was extraordinarily time-consuming and increasingly unsustainable at EP Group's scale.
  2. OneStream unified reporting across all major subsidiaries with a standardized level of detail for every entity. For the first time, EP Group could produce consolidated reports with confidence that every company was reporting the same information in the same way.
  3. The speed improvement over Excel is not comparable. It is transformational. What previously required extensive manual assembly across dozens of inconsistent spreadsheets now happens on a platform built for the complexity and scale of a multi-industry private equity corporation.
  4. Data quality improved dramatically when every subsidiary reported to the same standard on one platform. Eliminating the variation in spreadsheet structures and data definitions removed the integrity issues that had undermined confidence in EP Group's consolidated reporting.
  5. Building an internal team capable of owning andmaintaining OneStream has been a source of organizational pride. Developing that in-house capability means EP Group is not dependent on outside support to manage and evolve their platform as the business continues to grow.

My name is Matyana Motoušková. I work for EP Group. EP Group is a private equity company. We are a multi-industry corporation with a very complex setup. Before one stream, we were doing most of the reporting in the Excel, which was becoming a nightmare.

We are a large company. We have different regulatory obligations, reporting obligations, so we need to make sure we can deliver those reports. When we started, we had something like 100 companies. Each of them had a different structure of the spreadsheets, different level of detail of the data, sometimes even different data.

And to put it together all in a comprehensive, understandable report with the data you can rely on was almost impossible and very, very time-consuming. We need something more sophisticated, something up-to-date that is suitable for companies of our size.

With one stream, it was a big transformation. We basically unified the reporting across all the major companies, major subsidiaries. So that was a big, big improvement. Obviously, the speed cannot compare to Excel.

The data quality as well. I mean, everybody reports the same level of detail. I'm also proud that we were able to build together a team that is able to take care of one stream. For us, it was really a life-changer.
